Ida C. Vincent, 101. died Wednesday, Aug. 13. 2003. at St. John's of Victoria Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 2, 1901. on the family homestead ranch in southern Yuma County, Colo. She and her parents were among the first pioneers of Colorado. She was a graduate of rural schools in Colorado and a graduate of McPherson Academy and McPherson College, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1930. She taught elementary schools in eastern Colorado and western Kansas and taught high school in Kit Carson, Yuma County Central and various schools in western Kansas for 26 years. Retiring in 1965, she was honored in receiving her life teaching certificate in Kansas. She was a member of the honorary teaching society, Delta Kappa Gamma of Garden City. She married Clyde Vincent on May 27, 1935, in Burlington, Colo. He died Jan. 29,1992. She and her husband farmed in the Alden area for several years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hays, Daughters of the American Revolution, Courtney-Spalding Chapter, the Hays Genealogical Society, the American Association of Retired Persons of Hays, the Order of the Eastern Star of Sterling, and the Cowgirl Hall of Fame, Fort Worth, Texas. Survivors include her daughter, Viola Kaempfe and her husband, Jerry, of Hays; grandchildren, Tina Eva Anguish and her husband, Albert, and Victor LeRoy Kaempfe and his wife, Tracy, and a great-grandson, Richard Kaempfe. She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church; burial in Mount Allen Cemetery in Hays. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or the organization of the donor's choice.
