Charles Lengel
Charles Lengel, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 18 at Kenton Manor Home in Greeley (Colorado).
He was born Oct. 28, 1899 in Yuma County, Colo., to John L and Elizabeth Gutting Lengel. He married Minnie L Dangberg on July 21, 1929 at Wray (Colorado).
Charles Lengel spent his childhood in southern Yuma County. He attended public schools in the area. He was graduated from McPherson College, McPherson, Kans., in 1927 and taught school in Formoso and Jamestown. He acted as principal of Jamestown High School until 1932.
After spending some tine as an insurance agent in Concordia and Salina, Kans., he began farming near Goodrich, in Morgan County, Colo., in 1942. He farmed northwest of Windsor from 1947 and resided there for nearly 35 years until the time of his death.
Lengel served for several years as a member of the board of education of the Windsor Public Schools. He was a member of the Northern Colorado Church of the Brethren near Windsor.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie of Windsor; a son, Leland of McPherson, Kans.; two sisters, Anna of Sterling, Kans. And Ida of Hays, Kans.; three brothers, john and Levi of LaSalle and Ben of Burlington, Colo.; two grandchildren, Douglas of McPherson and Carolyn of New York, N.Y. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe.
Services were Wednesday morning at the Northern Colorado Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Herbert Zeiler officiating.
