Menze, Blanche Constance "Dolly" (Mangelsdorf) age 106 of Falcon Heights, MN passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2017 at New Harmony Care Center. Constance was born June 16, 1911 in Atchison, Kansas, fourth of six children of Blanche (Scamell) and Atchison mayor Friedrich Mangelsdorf. In Atchison, Constance studied English Literature at Mount St. Scholastica and met her husband, Edwin. They married on June 2, 1938 and moved to Lawrence, KS. His career eventually brought them to Minnesota where he became a German professor at the University of Minnesota. Constance was an English teacher and a passionate advocate for education her whole life. She had a nurturing spirit and was known for her storytelling and exquisite gardens. Constance and Ed lived in the University Grove neighborhood for over 50 years where she treasured her friendships and social gatherings with faculty and staff. The family of Constance thanks the staff of New Harmony for providing loving and compassionate care in her final years. Constance was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Menze, and all of her siblings. She is survived by one son, and one daughter; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A private family ceremony will be held at Fort Snelling where "Omama" will be laid to rest with her husband.
