Services for Eugene B. Mangelsdorf, 85, Kansas City, Kan., a former seed industry consultant, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Porter Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the First Pilgram Congregational Church or to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
Mr. Mangelsdorf died Monday, March 2, 1992, at the home. He was born in Atchison and moved to the Kansas City area 50 years ago.
He operated Mangesldorf Enterprises Inc. for 12 years and retired in 1985. He had formerly worked for the Mangelsdorf Seed Co. in Atchison, then was a purchaser, vice president and secretary for the Rudy-Patrick Seed Co. in Kansas City, Mo., for 41 years.
He was past president and treasurer of the Western Seedsmen's Association and past president of the Missouri Seedsmen's Association. He was past vice president for agriculture of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City and was past chairman of the advisory committee of the Greater Kansas City Future Farmers of America.
He has served on an advisory committee for the dean of agriculture at the University of Missouri.
Mr. Mangelsdorf was a member of the First Pilgrim Congregational Church. He was a trustee of the church for four years and was treasurer for 12 years. He attended Kansas State University. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta, was past treasurer and a former trustee of the Greater Kansas City Alumni chapter of the Phi Delta Theta Foundation Inc. and was past president of the Greater Kansas City Phi Delta Alumni Association.
He received the Phi of the Year award in 1961 and the Phi Delta Theta Golden Legionaire award in 1979.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Blanche I. Mangelsdorf, of the home; two daughters, Helen Irene Holland, Lawrence, and Blanche Eugenia Cox Corrales, N.M.; a son, Ed F. Mangelsdorf, Lenexa; a brother, Arthur C. Mangelsdorf, Prairie Village; three sisters, Mildred Bell, Prairie Village; Constance Menze, St. Paul, Minn., and Frances Seeber, Mission; and eight grandchildren.
With his wife Blanche he was a member of the Meadow Oaks Country Club and The Terrace Club.
Casket Bearers were Robert Brillhart, Russell DeRigne, Joe Harrington, David Rose, Mel L. Stamm, and Robert Tietze.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Robert Appleman, Art Armbrust, and J. Harold Hayob.

Gene married Blanche Irene Ripley October 22, 1933, in Plainview, Texas, at the home of her oldest sister, Ruth Elizabeth Ripley Ayers Thatcher. Family present were Gene's father, Frederick Wilhelm Mangelsdorf of Atchison, Kansas, Blanche's sister Ruth, Ruth's two daughters, Helen Ann Ayers and Edna Ruth Ayers, and Blanche's sister Mary Watson and her husband J.E., all of Plainview, Texas.
