Mildred married Hubert Harvey Bell on July 29, 1929, in Atchison, Kansas, at "Homewood", the home of her grandfather Ernst August Mangelsdorf and step-grandmother Mary Louise (Brune) Mangelsdorf. Mildred's brother, Eugene Brune Mangelsdorf, was a groomsman.

Mil and Hugh had two children, Barbara Joan and Hubert Harvey.

Mil and Hugh bought their home which was located at 310 Parallel, Atchison, KS.

Mil and Hugh established and operated The Bell Shoe Store at 615 Commercial, Atchison, KS; they also owned the building housing their store.

They also owned and worked on their 60 acre farm just outside Atchison, KS, raising grain crops.

Genealogy was Mil's hobby.

Upon retiring, they sold their shoe store, the building housing it, their home, and their farm and moved to Johnson County, Kansas.
