Verl R. Carlstrom passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 77. God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered, "come with me."
Verl was born in Alexandria, MN, on July 31, 1941. He served our country in the Navy. He was a longtime member of the Elk Mound Lions Club. He spent many years selling real estate in the Eau Claire area. Verl always enjoyed watching his grandchildren's activities.
Verl is survived by his wife Carol; children, Frans (Lynn) and Linda (Shaun) Murphy; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Cody Carlstrom and Isaac and Brady Murphy; brother Harold (Carolyn) and brother-in-law Marland Madson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Frans; sisters, Harriet, Jane, Grace and Florence; nephew Gary Halverson and niece Patricia Rosenow.
The family would like to thank the Pigeon Falls Healthcare Center for their compassionate care.
Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound with Pastor Mary Eide officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Menomonie Veteran's Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow the services. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church.
Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
