The tenth inst was the happy occasion of a surprise party given to Jerry Agner, on his seventy-fifth birthday anniversary, in Perry Township. His many friends and near acquaintances met at his home, and prepared a dinner with every possible delicacy, the country afford. He was summoned from his potato digging by the old bell that swung from its mooring for over fifty years--when to his surprise, a large concourse were gathered together to do him honor and show respect, such as Mr. Wagner deserved at all times. The 75 years that have fallen upon him, had made apparently but little in roads toward old age. He met his friends in his usual affable and pleasing manner, as if care or disease had never frowned down up on him. Dinner served in the most sumptuous manner, and each one partook in that good old home way that our forefather's always enjoyed, "cutting out" many changes and entry of flippant aristocracy of today. The seventy five years of Mr. Wagner's life is not ended by sitting down looking backward and reviewing the past with regret, as most men of his age--but lives as the youth in hope and anticipation of the happy future and reap the rich harvest of many summers before him yet to come.
