Wilma A. Sams, 93, Topeka, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, in Topeka.

She was born Jan. 28, 1910, in Topeka, the daughter of Albert and Veronica Allendorf Artzer.

Mrs. Sams was a lifelong Topeka resident. She worked for Beatrice Creamery for many years. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the VIP at the North Topeka Baptist Church.

She married Henry Sams on May 1, 1929, in Topeka. He died on Sept. 13, 1977.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Blocker and Marilyn Shepherd, both of Topeka, and Henrietta Mann, Melbourne, Fla.; a son, Charles Sams, Cat Spring, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Sanchez, Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Wilbert Artzer and Eugene Artzer, both of Topeka; 17 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Wilma A. Sams will lie in state after 3 p.m. Friday at Parker-Price Mortuary, where the D of I Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m., followed by a parish rosary at 6 p.m., after which the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church, 204 W. 8th, Topeka.
