The former Emilie Biel was born July 20, 1899, in Shonwiese, Russia, daughter of Christian and Helen Rusch Biel. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of 13.
On Aug. 23, 1919, she married David J. Ruppel in Sheboygan.
Mrs. Ruppel was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
She is survived by her husband; six sons, Raymond of Towson, Md., Harold of Parker, Colo., Richard of Cumberland, John of Eagle, Idaho, Daniel of Sheboygan, and Wesley of Newburg; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Helen) Riggert of Vacaville, Calif., and Mrs. Al (Patricia) Hamilton of Sunnymead, Calif.; 33 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. John Kraus and Mrs. Rose Krause, both of Sheboygan.
She was preceded in death by two children and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. The Rev. Jan Olav Flaaten, pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Monday until the time of services.
