Mary was born Aug. 3, 1901 in Enders, Russia to Christ and Helen Rusch Biel. She came to Sheboygan with her family, when she was a child.
On Oct. 13, 1923, she married John C. Kraus of Sheboygan. The couple lived in the 900 block of Lincoln and later, on N. 9th St., until they both became residents of Sunny Ridge. Mr. Kraus preceded her in death on Feb. 27,1993.
Mrs. Kraus was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Volga Aid Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Marion H. Johnson, Sheboygan; six grandchildren, John (Debbie) Johnson, Walter Johnson, Debra (Randall) Zahner, all of Sheboygan; Karen (Mark) Buchanan, Puyallup, Wash.; James (Theresa) Kraus, Newcastle, Wash.; Susan (Larry) Kaler, Kent, Wash.; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Gene) Methven, Ronton, Wash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and John; seven sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. The Rev. Galan D. Walther, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at Ball-horn's on Saturday, from 1 1 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established, in her name, for Sheboygan Lutheran High School.
