Jacob Burgardt, 72, of 1012 North Madison, died Monday night in a Topeka hospital. He was born July 7, 1878 in Pfeifer, Russia, and came to Topeka in 1907.
He was an employee of the Santa Fe shops for years. Later he was an employee of the Burlington Railroad, Co. He retired in 1944. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mary Burgardt of the home; five sons, Albert, George and Jacob Burgardt Jr, all of Topeka; John and Joseph Burgardt, of Aurora, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kistner, Oelwein, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Gartner, Topeka, and Miss Barbara Ann Burgardt, of the home; 39 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, George Burgardt, Topeka; and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Conrade, Topeka.
