ROBERT HEIMGARTNER, 73, RETIRED CARPENTER
Robert Everett Heimgartner, a retired Clarkston carpenter, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday at his home of cancer. He was 73.
Heimgartner was a native the Fix Ridge area near Juliaetta and worked as a carpenter for about 30 years.
He was born April 21, 1911, to Robert and Bessie Heimgartner. He lived in the Juliaetta area until 1946. attending school there.
He also farmed in his early years in the Buell area and from 1942 to 1943, worked in the Bayview area on a naval base as a carpenter.
He married Ruby May Spray at Lewiston October 5, 1935. She died at Lewiston, September 1, 1951.
In 1946, he moved to Lewiston, moving across the river to Clarkston the following year.
He was scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 127 from 1951 to 1954, and was a member of the Clarkston Moose Lodge and the local carpenters union. He was an avid hunter, angler and bowler.
He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald R. and Raymond E. of Clarkston; five brothers, Leslie F., Roy C., Wayne G., Elmer M. and Lawrence W., all of Juliaetta; three sisters, Lillie A. McCall and Laverne L. Harri of Clarkston and Betty J. Surbaugh of Othello, and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Merchant Funeral Home, Clarkston, with the Rev. Larry Nicholson of First United Methodist Church of Lewiston officiating. Burial will be at Vineland Cemetery.
The family suggests that any memorial donations be given to Family Hospice.
