LAWRENCE W. HEIMGARTNER, 83, RETIRED FARMER
The funeral for Lawrence William Heimgartner, 83, a retired Juliaetta Kendrick farmer, will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel at Lewiston. The Rev. Mark Fischer of the Juliaetta Community Church will officiate and burial will follow at the Fix Ridge Cemetery near Juliaetta.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Thursday at Malcom's
Heimgartner died of pneumonia Monday at the Royal Plaza Care Center in Lewiston.
The son of Robert and Bessie Hoisington Heimgartner, he was born July 8, 1914, at Fix Ridge. He graduated from Juliaetta High School in 1932 and was valedictorian of his class.
He married Nellie Marie Fey February 15, 1939, at Lewiston. The couple farmed on Fix Ridge and Potlatch Ridge until moving to American Ridge in the spring of 1949. They retired from farming and moved to Juliaetta in 1982.
He attended the Juliaetta Community Church and was a member of the Kendrick, Pomona, State and National Grange. He was a past master of the Kendrick Grange. He also belonged to the Dick's Creek Cattlemen's Association
He enjoyed baseball, his farm animals and hunting and fishing. His family and farm were very important to him.
He is survived by his wife at the couple's Juliaetta home; two daughters, Janice Merlene Groseclose of Juliaetta and Joanne Rae Johnson of Lewiston; a son, Ray Heimgartner of Juliaetta; two brothers, Roy and Wayne Heimgartner, both of Juliaetta, three sisters, Lillie McCall and Laverne Harri, both of Clarkston and Betty Surbaugh of Othello, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Leslie, Everett and Elmer Heimgartner, died previously.
