Dies at Home of Son
He and His Bride Homesteaded
In South Dakota, Moving
To a Farm Near Cook in 1911.

Alfred Riensche of Cook died at the home of his son Arnold Riensche in this city at 6:00 p.m. on March 15, 1948. The cause of his death was a rare muscular ailment and he had been bedfast since October of 1947. His decline in health had been evident since November of 1946. He was taken to the Bryan Memorial hospital at Lincoln last October for 10 days, and returned there on December 12, remaining there until February 29. His age was 60 years, 5 months and 27 days.

Alfred Frederick Wilhelm Riensche, son of Charles F. and Louise W. Stutheit Riensche, was born on September 18, 1887, on the Stutheit homestead in Helena precinct west of Cook. His parents were early settlers of Johnson county. He spent the early years of his life near Sterling with the exception of about two years spent in Kansas. He attended elementary school in district No. 28 in this county.

On February 8, 1911, he was united in marriage to Florence Bomberger in Helena precinct. Five children were born to this union. Mr. Riensche and his bride homesteaded in South Dakota and lived there about three months in the spring of 1911, returning to farming near Cook. He spent the last 27 years of his life on a farm four miles west of Cook and was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Helena.

He is survived by his wife; children Arnold J. Riensche of Tecumseh, Opal, wife of Dean Wright of Steinauer, Frances, wife of Otis Grotrian, and Merle R. Riensche and Vergil E. Riensche of Cook; nine grandchildren and brothers and sisters, Edwin of Eugene, Ore., Herbert of Salem, Ore., Theodore of Cook and Agnes, Oscar and Reinhart of Sterling.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock at the family home near Cook and 2:00 o'clock at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Helena, Rev. Karl Winterfield, pastor of the church, in charge. Burial is being made in the Helena cemetery.
