Rose Mary Burgardt, 74, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at her home in Garden City.
She was born March 5, 1926 at Chicago, the daughter of Anton and Blanche Laura (Weigel) Brungardt. She moved from Victoria to Garden City in 1932 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, all of Garden City. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, crocheting, sports, yard work, travel, music, reading and being with family and friends. She also helped serve at wedding receptions and funeral dinners for many years.
She married Gregory Knoll at Garden City July 10, 1943. He died Nov. 8, 1944. Then on Sept. 3, 1946, she married Peter William Burgardt at Garden City. He died April 5, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Burgardt of Tacoma, Wash., and David Burgardt of Garden City; four daughters, Janet Linenberger, Patricia Biggs and Laurie Gerber of Garden City and Coleen Ortiz-Burgardt of Logan, Utah; one brother, Allen Quint, of Salinas, Calif.; six sisters, Barbara Harrington and Louise Wasinger of Garden City, Lillian Tatro of Commerce City, Colo., Jane Handy of Las Vegas, and Jean Dunnam and Carol Barton of Garden City; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Quint and Mildred McCaslin.
Vigil services are 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held there 10:30 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. James Baker the celebrant. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary School Endowment Fund or the St. Catherine Home Health and Hospice, both in care of the funeral home.
