Re: William Dean Family

"...Reuben was the father of Benjamin and Benjamin the father of William, the subject of our sketch, and the founder of the Dean family in Canfield, whose descendants are now scattered in various directions..."

"...In the fall of 1810, William Dean and wife, with five children, his aged father [Benjamin] and mother [Ruth Tanner], and a family of five persons by the name of Green, started from Litchfield county, Conn., on their weary way to the west, arriving in Canfield Oct. 10, 1810, finding shelter in a log cabin standing across the street from the present residence of Henry M. Hine..."

"...By reference to the registry of deaths for Canfield, we find that Mrs. Ruth Dean died in May, 1812, aged 71, and on... August 13, 1815, Benjamin Dean died (of old age) aged 75."

"We have no further knowledge of this old couple, but if we are allowed to judge parents by their children, we could only speak well of them."
