"Daniel Dean was born on the 31st of March, 1765, in Cornwall, Litchfield County, Connecticut, the son of Benjamin 1739-1815 and Ruth [Tanner] Dean 1740-1812. Daniel was a farmer and later in life became an ordained Baptist preacher. Daniel Dean was married to Mary Field on the 31st of October, 1796, in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut. Mary Field was born on the 15th of August, 1773, in Norfolk, Litchfield Co., Conn., the daughter of unknown parents, and she died on the 7th of December, 1851, in reportedly, Ohio. Daniel & Mary [Field] Dean had eight or more children; (1)Benjamin Dean 1797-1874, 1st married Julia Phelps 1795-1841, 2nd married Harriet A. Fairchild 1814-1872; (2)Daniel Dean Jr. 1799-1823, reportedly died in Medina County, Ohio, no information; (3) Moses Dean 1803-1855/60, married, 1828, Harriet Hosford 1805-1880; (4) Ebenezer Dean 1806-1880, 1st married Susanna Miller 1814-1889, 2nd married, no information; (5) Salmon Dean 1806, went to Iowa last heard, no information; (6) William B. Dean 1816-1873, married Hannah E.
