He united with the Bethel Baptist church at the age of 20 years and his life portrayed a beautiful Christian spirit.
He was married to Helen E. McCrary, December 25, 1920 and three children came to bless this union: William Edward, John Sherwood and Mary Jane. John Sherwood passed into the Great Beyond August 6, 1926.
He leaves his wife and two children; father, J. H. Bruns; three brothers, Arthur and Charley of St. Clair and Robert of St. Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Hoffman of St. Clair and Mrs. Edna Redhage of Union; mother-in-law; six sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law, uncles, aunts and many other relatives and friends.

Gravesite Details
John was originally buried in a lower section of the cemetery near his parents, and with his son Sherwood. After his wife, Helen remarried both John and Sherwood we're moved to their present resting spots. Aunt Helen then could be with both.
