Barbara M. Schneider, 88, of Sterling, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001 in Sterling.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 6, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, concluding with vigil and rosary service at 7p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am. on Saturday, July 7, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Mickey Flaska officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Schneider was born on April 21, 1913 to John and Constance (Bellendir) Monheiser in Sterling. She grew up in Sterling and attended St. Anthony School.
On Feb. 13, 1939 she married John Schneider at St. Anthony Catholic Chuith in Sterling. They farmed in the Iliff/Padroni area until her husband's death. After the death of her husband, she moved to Sterling, where she worked as a cook for St Anthony School and later in the housekeeping department for Logan County Hospital.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Mrs. Schneider is survived by two sons, John Schneider and wife Judie of Thornton and Jake Schneider and wife Geri of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Connie Miller and husband Harry of Sterling; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara is also survived by her extended family consisting of the staff and many friends of the Sterling Living Center where she resided for the past seven years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Schnei der; her mother and father, a daughter, Barbara Pimental of Kiowa; a granddaughter, Kristen of Virginia Beach; three brothers and four sisters.
