Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 6 at Tennant Funeral Home, with a vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Whipkey officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Monheiser was born Nov. 17, 1917 to John and Constance (Bellendir) Monheiser in Sterling. He grew up in Sterling and attended St. Anthony's School.
He married Susan Kloberdanz on Jan. 17, 1938, at St. Anthony's Church in Sterling. They farmed in the Atwood community for 35 years. He received an award for the highest sugar beet yield per acre in 1949, and in 1965 he received the high station award from the Great Western Sugar Company.
They retired and moved to Sterling in 1977. He then worked for Sterling Oil and Gas for six years.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sterling Elks Lodge.
Mr. Monheiser is survived by his wife; a son, Ron and wife Cheryl of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Jan Lebsock, Marlene Curlee and husband Mike, and Lou Kembel and husband Richard, all of Sterling; a sister, Barbara Schneider of Sterling; 10 grand children and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
