Edith Marquardsen
Edith Evelyn Marquardsen, 83, of Cambridge, died August 4, 2003 at Cambridge Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10 from Siloa Lutheran Church with Rev. James Hougen officiating. Music will be provided by Howard Doble. Organist will be Dorothy Rysdam. Pallbearers will be Terry and Jay Slater, Todd and Aaron Marquardsen, Dennis Moen, Dennis Terhark, Lenny and Bobby Hansen. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
She was born April 22, 1920 in Ashton, Iowa to Fred and Florence (McEnaney) Dickey. She grew up on the family farm near Pipestone and graduated from Pipestone High School. In February 1941 she married Hans Marquardsen in Ruthton, and they made their home in Pipestone until 1954 when they moved to their farm near Cambridge. Hans and Edith raised three children Ronald, Bernie and Marilyn. After Hans' death in 1987, Edith moved to Bridge Park Apartments.ÝEdith was a member of the Cambridge Legion Women's Auxiliary, and loved to travel with her daughter to visit many relatives and friends.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband Hans, son Ronald, sister Freda Terhark and brother Vernon Dickey.
She is survived by her son Bernie (Jane) of Milaca, daughter Marilyn Slater of Bloomington, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-children, sisters Joyce (Richard) Hansen of Rush City; Shirley DeBates of Hardwick; Betty (Bob) DeShepper of Pipestone; Gene (Ollie) Wittrock of Romulus, MI; Frances Adams of Hubbard, OR; and Ruby (Harvey) Hansen of Des Moines, IA.
