GERONIMO - Funeral for R. A. "Dude" Pickens, 82, Geronimo, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church, south of Lawton, with the Rev. Vivian Garza, pastor, officiating.
Mr. Pickens died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 in Lawton.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Becker Funeral Home.
He was born March 9, 1927, in Foster to Walter Levi and Susie Modena Hawkins Pickens. He married Estelle Rhodes on May 17, 1947 in Lawton. He served in the Navy during World War II. He owned and operated two service stations in Lawton. He was a truck driver for Associated Milk Producers retiring in 1992 after 20 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home, three children and their spouses: Jim and Beth Pickens, Austin, Texas; Barbara and Ken Bowen and Denise and Robert Floyd, all of Lawton; five grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer Bowen and Brian and Holley Floyd, all of Lawton; David Pickens, Georgetown, Texas; Jason and Sara Floyd, Oklahoma City; and Marc Pickens, Georgetown; two step grandchildren: Ashley Kamrath, Houston, Texas; and Jamie Gallia and her husband Allen, Austin; a great-grandchild, Chloe Floyd, Lawton; a step great-grandchild, Emily Gallia, Austin; a sister, Neva Landers, Lawton; and a special niece and nephew, Aubrena and Matt O'Neal, San Diego.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; Jena Bowen; and nine brothers and sisters.
