Funeral for Roy Pickens, 63, of 503 1/2 H, who died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in a local hospital following an extended illness will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Rev. Joe Seachrist of the Bible Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmore City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are presently pending with Greenlawn Funeral Home.
Mr. Pickens was born on May 5, 1909 in Elmore City.
He came to Lawton 22 years ago. He married Gertrude Burt on July 3, 1957 in Lawton. He was a farmer for many years, and later employed by the Lawton Sanitation department until ill health forced his retirement nine years ago. Mr. Pickens was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home, two sons: Roy Dewayne and Donald, Wichita, Kan: three daughters: Mrs. Oran (Loretha) Risenhouer, Wynnewood, Mrs. Mack (Loretta) Denny and Mrs. Jimmy (Rita) Atkinson, Wichita, Kan., one stepdaughter, Mrs. Don(Truda) Hines, Edmond. Five brothers: Calvin, Elmore City, Delbert, Porterville, CA, Loyd, 1813 E, Louis, Rt 1 Faxon, and Reaford, 311 NW 62nd. Four sisters: Mrs. Alice Priest, Marlow; Mrs. Mildred Macom and Mrs. Unav Fratus, Bethany; and Mrs. Neva Landers, 1606 G; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
