Obituary noted in the Wynnewood Gazette, July 1996 for Alice M. Priest.

Alice M. Priest was born March 12, 1911 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Walter and Susie Pickens.

After many years of faithful, loving service to God, family, and friends and others, she passed away on Saturday, July 20, 1996 in Marlowe, Oklahoma. She was 85.

Alice has baked her last cinnamon rolls, cooked her last pie and cake and closed her kitchen. She has sung her last song, prayed her last prayer, vacated her church pew, and fought her last battle with illness. Tired and weary of the struggle of it all, she sleeps in the arms of her Lord to awaken in the splendor of Heaven and Eternal Life.

Alice married Elmer Priest on July 27, 1927 in Fairoak, Oklahoma. The couple established a home in Elmore City where they operated Priest Service Station and Garage until 1961 when they moved to Marlow.

Alice was a member of the Marlow United Pentecostal Church and will be long remembered for her spirit of serving, giving and compassion - her ministries throughout her lifetime. She worked at Gregston Nursing Home in Marlow for many years and loved her work as a Foster Grandparent at Marlow Elementary School Headstart. She worked there until 1990 when she retired.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, a daughter Eunice Priest Duncan and a son Anthony "Tony" Priest.

She is survived by three daughters, Waunice Turner of Marlow, Wanette Jones of Ragley, Louisiana, and Sue Clem of Leedey, Oklahoma; one son, Ted Priest of Waukomis; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Calvin Pickens of Elmore City and Reaford Pickens of Geronimo; and one sister, Neva Landers of Mt. View, Oklahoma.

Funeral services for Mrs. Priest were held Tuesday, July 23, 1996 in the United Pentecostal Church of Elmore City with Reverend R.D. Whelan, District Superintendent of the United Pentecostal of Oklahoma officiating, assisted by Reverend Jack Garrison, Pastor of the United Pentecostal of Enid.

Interment was in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Music and singing for her service were performed by several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Children noted on her marker: Eunice, Waunice, Wantette, Sue, Ted, Tony. (Eunice Priest Duncan (1923 to 1974) noted in the Elmore City Cemetery).
