Louis G. Conrad was born January 5, 1896, in Eden Township, Pipestone County to Gus and Hulda (née Weinkauf) Conrad. He married Hilda Eggers August 28, 1918, at Pipestone. From 1917 to 1922, he worked at the Holland Creamery, then for a time owned and operated a hotel in Holland, followed by jobs at the Trosky and Ihlen creameries. In 1926 he went to work on the family farm in Eden Township and then rented a farmstead at Grange Township, Pipestone County from 1930 to 1944. From 1945 to 1946 he and Mrs. Conrad operated the Ruthton bowling center, and then the bowling center at Redwood Falls until 1951 at which time they returned to Pipestone. They moved to Morgan in 1953. At one point, Mrs. Conrad asked her husband why they couldn't stay in one locale instead of relocating so often. His reply was, "Heaven is my home."
