Ralph Eugene Hewitt

LYNDHURST - Ralph Eugene Hewitt went to be with the Lord at 6 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) at his residence at 1197 Love Road.

He was born Oct. 14, 1929, at Love, to parents Mack and Allie M. Hewitt.

He retired from Wayne-Tex in March 1992 with 32 years of service.

He was a devoted father and a member of Mt. Top Christian Church where he served as an elder for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Irvan; two sisters, Charlotte Quick and Elizabeth Truslow; four brothers, Mac Hewitt Jr., Manuel Hewitt, Carl Hewitt and Guy Hewitt.

On Jan. 28, 1950, he married Virgie Fix Hewitt, who survives him. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Jeffrey S. Hewitt of Waynesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Dick Freed, and Jenny and Danny Kiser of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren, Carmen Hewitt of Greensboro, N.C., Justin and Kyle Freed of Waynesboro, Daniel and Kelsey Kiser of Stuarts Draft, and Maria Irvan, who made her home with her grandparents; and four sisters, Margie Hufford of Waynesboro, Beulah Patterson of Crozet, Betty Campbell of Stuarts Draft and Dottie Lesenbe of North Carolina.

A service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro by Ray Coffey, Mike Waters and Joe Nelson. Burial will follow at Mt. Top Christian Church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Landen Coffey Jr., Richard Coffey, Elwood Quick, David Truslow, Ronnie Taggart, Steve Barrett, Don Alexander and Harold Hewitt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Coffey, Steve Coffey, Guy Fix, Danny Quick, Ashley Campbell, Henry S. Day and friends of Mt. Top Christian Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro.
