William Aubrey "Bill" Knott, 90, of the Carmel Home, formerly of 2710 W. Fifth St., Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Daviess County to the late William Henry and Mary Alma Grant Knott. He was retired from General Electric Co. and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Goldie Mae Moore Knott, on Jan. 23, 2006; two brothers, Jimmy and Louis Knott; and three sisters, Della Mae Kerrick, Margaret Roberts, and Ginny Hines. Surviving are his son, Billy Martin Knott, and wife LaVonne, their son, Robert, and wife Christina and their two sons, Jodi Knott and Rhett Knott, and daughter Cierra Knott, all of Owensboro, his daughter, Rebecca Ann Burch, and husband Victor of Palestine, Texas, her daughters, Vicky Knoblock and husband Mark of Humble, Texas, her son, Chip Thompson of Tyler, Texas, and daughter Dawn Thompson of Houston, Cindy Wood and husband Norris of Elkhart, Texas, their son, Matt Wood, and daughter Barbara Wood, both of Elkhart, Barbara Coy and husband Rodney of Palestine, and her son, Dylan Coy, and daughter Katy Coy of Palestine, and her son, James Burch, and his son, James Garrett Burch, both of Palestine; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Raphael Martin Knott of Hawaii, a sister, Louella Farmer, of Oakland, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Carmel Home with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro where prayers will be at 6 p.m. today.
