Peter Maynard, 81 of Big Branch, WV., died Wednesday, November 16, 1960 at a local hospital.
Peter a retired timber-man, was born in 1879 at Naugatuck, WV., son of the late John Henry and Comfort (Sansom) Maynard. Peter was preceded in death by his wife Fanny Evans; two daughters Edna Belle Evans, and Alice Runyon; one son John Maynard.

He was a member of the United Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Hoover and H.P. of Naugatuck, WV., Sam of Logan, WV., and Cecil, Oscar, and Jessie all of Wellston, WV.; three daughters, Betty Brinager, and Lottie Marcum of Naugatuck, WV., and Ethel Hams of Flat Top, VA.; 67 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted with the Revs. Ben Stafford and Lewis Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow in the Newsome Ridge Cemetery at Naugatuck, WV., with Ball Funeral Home in charge.
