JOHN PEDERSEN
John Pedersen, the eldest son of Rasmus and Stena Pedersen was born Sept. 24, 1881 on a farm near Hardy, Nebraska. He passed away April 10, 1951 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska.
He was baptised into the Christian faith in early infancy.
On Sept. 28, 1908 he was united marriage to Vera Morton, who away in 1926. To this union were born ten children, Mable Crandall, Ray, Clara Copas, and Donald of Hardy, Ellen Lanham of Nora, Christina Pedersen of Laramie, Wyo., and Margaret Schrach, Ethel Lee and Wilma Osbun of Mansfield, Ohio. One daughter preceded the father in death.
On Oct. 4, 1943 he was married to Hilma Petersen. At this time he retired from farming and moved to Hardy where he lived a short time before moving to Superior where he made his home until his death.
On June 25, 1950 he became a confirmed member of the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior of which he was a faithful member at the time of his death.
Besides his widow and his children he leaves three step children, Norman, Albert and Helan Petersen, fourteen grandchildren, three brothers, Chris and Lars of Hardy and Henry of Seattle, Washington; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He will always be remembered as a kind and loving husband and father. His ' fine Christian spirit of resignation and patience so outstanding in last illness is ever to serve as a worthy example to all who must bear life's heavy burdens.
Asleep in Jesus, Blessed sleep,
From which none ever wakes to weep
A calm and undisturbed repose
Unbroken by the last of foes.
Interment was in the Ruskin cemetery with funeral services at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, the Rev. V. Jordening officiating, April 15, 1951.
