Hooper - William J Liston, 90, of Hooper died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Hooper Care Center/

He was born June 19, 1908, at rural Hooper/ He attended District 20 school in rural Dodge County. He married LaVerle Ehninger June 4, 1935, at rural Nickerson. He was a farmer, farming most of his life southeast of Hooper. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church at Hooper, and served on the church council numerous times. He also served on the church building committee. He was a Farmers Co-op Board of Directors for many years. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fremont, was active in the Senior Citizen Group, was a land surveyor for ASCS office in Dodge County. He also was active in the local Boy Scouts of America and Dodge County Republican Party.

Survivors include: his wife, two sons, Ron (and wife, Linda) Liston of Malcom, Duane (and wife, Fran) of Nickerson; daughter , Linda Liston of Des Moines, Iowa; four sisters, Mae Belle Johnson of North Bend, Hellena Robertson of Fremont, Lolita Porter of Scribner, and Theresa Suhr of Scribner; two brothers, Franklin (and wife, Evelyn) Liston of Fremont, and Clayton Liston of Hooper; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev, Greg Berger will officiate. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today at Warne-Johnson Funeral Home in Hooper. A family prayer service will be 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hooper Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Hooper Care Center.
