The funeral for Clayton H Liston, 96 of Hooper will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper.
He died Monday, December 17, 2007, at Hooper Care Center
He was born Aug 16, 1911, in Nickerson to Frank and Hellena (Hilbers) Liston. He grew up in Nickerson and attended Nickerson schools. He was confirmed on April 1, 1928, at Grace Lutheran Church. In Clayton's early years, he worked as a farmer, and farmed for others as well, including his brother Frank. He also worked at Scribner Air Base. He married Ruth Meier on June 5, 1940, in Hooper. The couple moved to the Hooper area in 1947 where they farmed until retiring into Hooper. His wife preceded him in death Sept 30, 1984.
Clayton loved to camp and fish and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper.
Survivors include a son, John (and wife, Kimberly) Liston of Hooper, a daughter, Joan Licht of Hooper, a sister Lotlita Porter of Scribner, two sisters-in-law, Laverle Liston of Hooper and Evelyn Liston of Fremont, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy, a grandson, two brothers and five sisters.
The Rev Joel Schroeder will officiate, Saturday's service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Ludvigson's Hooper Funeral Chapel with family receiving friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Hooper cemetery.
