CALEDONIA'S PIONEER FARMER PASSES AWAY AT RIPE OLD AGE

Deceased a Native of Germany and Came
to This Country When But 18 Years
of Age--Was School Treasurer for Fifteen Years

Felix Haas, a resident of Caledonia township for fifty-nine years, and one of the pioneer farmers of that section, died this morning in the 83rd years of his life. Mr. Haas was born in Germany, came to America when 18 years of age, settled in Pennsylvania, where he remained two years and then came to Racine county, taking up land and was one of the earliest settlers in Caledonia.
Deceased was a first class farmer, honest and upright, good natured and jolly and because of his good nature and willingness to always assist things that tended to elevate mankind and the community, became popular and widely known. He cultivated one of the best farms in the town.
Although never politically inclined he was treasurer of the school district for more than fifteen years.
He is survived by five sons, Joseph, Peter, George, Frank and Adam Haas, and three daughters, Elizabeth Burkhardt, Catherine Bushell and Celia Haas.
The funeral will take place Friday morning at 9 o'clock from the Holy Family church of Caledonia. Friends please omit flowers.
