ALLIANCE - Adolph H. Bauer, 93, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at Box Butte General Hospital. He was born Oct. 20, 1909, at Frank, Russia to Henry C. and Anna (Phief) Bauer.When he was three, his family immigrated to the United States settling near Hastings. In his later youth the family moved to the Bayard-Minatare area. On March 31, 1935 he married Mary Schwartz at Bayard. They farmed in the Bayard area until 1951 when they moved to their farm north of Alliance and continued farming until retiring in 1976 and moving into Alliance. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and he enjoyed his membership with the Panhandle Country Music Association. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Darlene and Royce Daugherty, and John and Pat Bauer of Alliance, Bob and Susan Bauer of Fairbury, Jerry Bauer and Roger Bauer of Alliance; grandchildren, Kari Adams of Fort Collins, Colo., Janelle Daugherty of Colorado Springs, Colo., Doug Daugherty, Ben Bauer, Trabor Bauer, Lindsey Bauer, Rylan Bauer, Sarah Bauer all of Alliance, Thane Bauer of Kearney, Brooke Frerking of Martell; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Dustin and Lex Daugherty, Kelsey and Cale Adams, Ashylnn, Kaylynn, Jayden and Jayce Bauer, and Bryce Bauer; and step-grandchildren, Bill Taylor of Rapid City, S.D., Brenda Saltzman of Alliance and Barbara Addleman of Kansas City, Mo. He also is survived by sisters, Edna Schnell and Rosalie Schnell of Alliance; brother Herman Bauer of Sacramento, Calif.; half-sisters Virginia Schnell of Sturgis, S.D., Alvina Lehl of Hemingford, Elnora Huber of Scottsbluff, Hermina Meyer of Portland, Ore.; and half-brother Richard Bauer of Scottsbluff. His parents, wife Mary, son Ronald, sister Lydia Huck, half-brother Kenneth and half-sister Neva Bauer preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Revs Martin T. Schnare and Richard C. Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
