Well Known Resident of East Dyersville Died Result of Paralysis --- Was 41 Years Old

Mr. Joseph Feldmann, passed away at this home a short distance east of Dyersville at 5:45 o'clock last Saturday morning, February 11, 1911, the result of paralysis. Mr. Feldmann suffered a stroke about four weeks ago. One side of his body was entirely affected, and his condition was serious. "All" that medical skill and loving hands could do for him proved of no avail and he grew gradually worse until death relieved him of his suffering.

Mr. Feldmann was a son of Mrs. Feldmann of West Dyersville, and the late Joseph Feldmann, Sr. He was born on the old homestead, where he has continually resided all his life and where he died. On September 25, 1894, deceased was united in marriage with Philomena Fangmann in St. Francis church, the ceremony being performed by Rev. B.H. Forkenbrock, now of New Hampton.

Eight children blessed this union, who with the sorrowing mother survive. They are Louisa, Herman, Clara, Rudolph, Alois, Martha, Florence and Leander. Deceased is also survived by his aged mother and by the following sisters and brother Henry and John B. Feldmann, Anna, now Mrs. Jos. Schlarmann, Katherina, now Mrs. Meyer and Elisabeth, now Mrs. Wilberding of Remsen.

Mr. Feldmann followed the pursuits of farming and was quite successful, in his work. He was a companionable disposition, kind to his family and considerate for the wellfare [sic] of his friends, and his death has occasioned deepest regret among all of his acquantances. Mr. Feldmann was a lifelong member of the Catholic church and when the end came was fortified with the last sacraments of his faith. To the bereaved wife and children sincerest sympathy is extended.

The funeral was held Monday morning from his late home to St. Francis church in Dyersville, where services were held at 9:30. Interment was had in the St. Francis cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. Joseph Eike, Joseph Steger, Clem Meyer, Jacob Digmann, Wm. Gerken and J.H. Prier. The Funeral was largely attended. The St. Francis Branch of the R.C.M.P.S., of Iowa of which the deseaced was a member attended in a body.

Among those present from a distance [illegible] and Joseph Wilberding of Remsen.
