Louis Kissner, 90, Long Time Resident, Dies
Louis Kissner, 90, resident of the Lamberton Community for more than 70 years, died at the Tracy hospital Saturday noon following an illness which confined him for five weeks. Death was due to complications.
Mr. Kissner, who had been unusually active until his health failed several months ago, was one of the oldest natives of this area. He was born near Sleepy Eye December 26, 1873, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Kissner. He came to Lamberton during his early life and worked on a farm. November 1, 1898, he married Anna Marti at the Evangelical Lutheran church in Sleepy Eye. The couple came to Lamberton where they farmed until 1940 when he retired and moved to town.
The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November.
Mr. Kissner retained his interest in world events and frequently discussed modern time and changes that took place during his lifetime, recalling farming in general.
Besides his wife, who lives in the family home here, he is survived by four daughters and two sons. They are [Luella] Mrs. Ben Matzke, Lamberton, [Agonia] Mrs. William Borchardt, Stanchfield; [Viola] Mrs. Reuel Reif, Salem, N.D.; [Melba] Mrs. William Tlam, Jeffers, and Theodore and Robert, Lamberton.
A sister, Mrs Fred Sasse, lives at Sleepy Eye. There are 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Lamberton Evangelical United Brethren church. Rev. E. G. Podoll, pastor, was assisted by Rev. A.J. Link, former pastor of the church. Music was rendered by a quartette included Mrs. Milton Werner, Mrs. Leonard Moody, Wilburt Junke and Clarence Griese. Mrs. Robert Creighton was pianist.
Pallbearers were Duane Kissner, Maynard Matzke, Merle Matzke, Edward Borchardt, Kenneth Kissner and Ralph Borchardt. [grandsons]. Interment was in the Lamberton Cemetery. – Lamberton News
