Dies At Halstead Hospital Following Operation, Rites To Be Tomorrow
Mrs. Elizabeth Nuss, a 58 year-old resident of the south part of Russell County, died Saturday night about 9:30 at the hospital in Halstead as the result of complications which developed following a gallstone operation which she had undergone there Thursday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nuss will be held tomorrow, March 31, at 1:30 from the Deines Funeral Home and at 2:30 from the American Lutheran Church at Milberger. Rev. C. Landdeck will have charge of the services of the services and burial will be in the Milberger Cemetery. The body will remain at the Deines Funeral Home until time for the service.
Mrs. Nuss was the oldest of 13 children of Mr. and Mrs. John Phillip Popp and was born Oct. 10, 1894 in the northern part of Barton County. She was married to Emanuel Nuss on March 7, 1915. Her husband preceded her in death July 26, 1948. She had lived at the same farm home continuously since her marriage until she entered the Halstead hospital on March 21.
She was the mother of five children, all of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Alvina MIller, Paradise, Mrs. Viola Podsz, of Lincolnville, Kans., Mrs. Florence Mai and Mrs. Corrine Dutschmann, both of Great Bend and Wayne Nuss, of the home. Also surviving are eight brothers, Peter Popp, of Otis, Solomon, Sigmund and Herman Popp of Hoisington, William of Galatia, Paul and Ben Popp, of Russell and Emil Popp, of Graham; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Ochs of Garden City, Mrs. Matilda Kraft, of Dodge City, Mrs. Pauline Maier, of Ness City and Mrs. Rachel Nuss, of Russell and 15 grandchildren.
