Eva Elizabeth Meier (nee Wassenmiller), the daughter of Johann F. & Eva (Hanschu) Wassenmiller,, was born on Oct. 13, 1867, in Scherbakowka Russia. On Nov. 24, 1888, while still in Russia, she married John Fredrick Meier. This home was blessed with five sons and seven daughters. Her husband, Fred Meier, and one son and two daughters preceded their mother in death.

In 1891 the Meier family left Russia and came to Lehigh, Kansas, living there until 1901 when they came to Oklahoma and resided in the Shattuck community until her death. Mrs. Meier fully consecrated her life to the Lord in 1917 and was a member of the St. Paul's Congregational Church since its organization. Mrs. Meier had been ill for the last three years and died Sunday, Jan. 13, 1952 at her home in Shattuck, at the age of 84 years and 3 months. Much of this time she was bedfast and was attended by her daughter, Ophelia, who has worked at the Shattuck Hospital as a nurse.

She leaves to mourn four sons and five daughters: Fred F. Meyer, Follett, TX; Mrs. Holt (Olinda) Karst, Bremerton, WA; Alex, Jacob, Alvin, Mrs. Henry (Mollie) Meier, Mrs. Adam A. (Leah) Kerbs, Mrs. Jacob G. (Ruth) Ehrlich and Miss Ophelia Meier, all of Shattuck, Oklahoma; one brother, Gottfried Wassenmiller of Shattuck, 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, besides many friends.
