Johann Fredrich Riffel and Eva Elisabeth Kraft were both born in Tscherbakowka, Russia and were married Jan. 10, 1902 there before moving to Russell, KS in 1907. Three of their ten children were born in Russia.

Eva Elizabeth Riffel, nee Kraft, was born January 3, 1879, at Muhlberg, Russia. In 1893 she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On January 10, 1902, she was united in marriage to Johann Fredrick Riffel, unto which 10 children were born, namely Eva Elizabeth Riffel, Mrs. Katherine Miller, Mrs. Mollie Ebel, Jacob, Alex, Amelia, Emanuel and Mary Riffel, and two sons who died in infancy.

Mrs. Riffel came with her husband and children to America in 1907, arriving in Russell June 12. The family has continued to reside here since that time. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, three sons, five daughters and one granddaughter, also a host of friends and relatives, besides one brother and two sisters in Russia.
