Funeral services for John P. Bittner, 73, of 23 S. Columbia St., Chilton were held in Chilton Tuesday at ST. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Henry Schmitt, Pastor, was the celebrant of the funeral Mass and burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery.

Mrs. Bittner, lived in Chilton since retiring as a farmer in the town of Chilton four years ago, collapsed and died of a heart attack about 9:45 a.m. Saturday in front of St. Mary’s church.

Born Oct. 4, 1887 in the town of Chilton, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bittner and attended St. Mary’s Parochial School in Chilton.

His marriage to Emma Nennig was solemnized Sept. 11, 1911, at St. Mary’s Church in Chilton. A member of the parish, she also belonged to the Holy Name Society and Catholic Knights of Wisconsin Branch 194.

Survivors are his widow, three sons, Francis and John Jr., of the Town of Chilton, Edward of Chilton; three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Marie) Wozniak of New Holstein, Mrs. Herman (Irma) Daun of the town of Brothertown, Mrs. William (Amelia) Bolz of Chilton; a sister, Sister Mary Armella of Clemes, ??? and 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters, preceded him in death.
