Frederick was born in Uberhofen, Saarbrucken, Saarland to John Miller and Catharina Strempel. He arrived in the U.S. on January 9, 1866 on the ship Washington with his mother and siblings. He married Emma M. (Eshman) Maurer on August 16, 1887 in Stark County, Ohio. They had six known children.

Frederick Miller Dies of Dropsy. Frederick Miller, 67, died of dropsy Saturday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. William Kuntz, 719 Highland street. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at St. Clement's church, Navarre. Interment will be made in St. Clement's cemetery. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Kuntz, Mrs. William Welch of West Brookfield, and Mrs. Rosanna Welch of this city; three sons, Ernest and John Miller of Detroit, and Oscar Miller of Mansfield; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Walters of this city, Mrs. Emma Hose of Detroit, Mrs. Christine Jordan of Akron, and two brothers, John and Caspar (sic) Miller of Detroit.

NOTE: The obituary states he is survived by daughters, Mrs. William Welch and Mrs. Rosanna Welch. Welch is incorrect - it should be WEICK.

Frederick's sister, Margaret, was my gr-grandmother.
