REPKING - OSTHOFF

Miss Clara Osthoff, daughter of Mrs Anton Osthoff of Ewington vicinity and Sgt Clarence Repking, son of Mr and Mrs John Repking of Bishop Creek were married Tuesday, October 6, 1942, at 3 pm at the Old World Cathederal in Saint Louis, St Louis, Missouri, USA

Witnesses were: Miss Florence Osthoff, sister of the bride and Staff Sgt Jos Barnes, a friend of the young couple.

The bride was charming in a wine velvet suit with accessories of teal blue. Her bridesmaid wore royal blue velvet with harmonizing accessories.

The bridal couple returned Tuesday night for a visit with their respective relatives.

Mr Repking is stationed in the US Army at Camp Pickett, Va, at the present time, while Mrs Repking will resume her employment in Chicago.

This paper extends its good wishes to the newlyweds.

---

After the wedding, he returned to the army where he was shipped to North Africa with his company. He spent the journey in the brig. He served in Europe from the first landings around Casablanca in Nov 1942 until the end of the war. He served in Sicily and Germany. After the war, he worked as an auto mechanic. At one time he worked for Z Frank in Chicago. Later he worked for the City of Chicago Parks Department.

Based upon his army experiences, Clarence had no use for the American Red Cross. He told stories of how they appear with a few donuts, take publicity photos and then leave without giving any donuts to the majority of the troops. On the other hand, he had nothing but praise for the Salvation Army which did their work without publicity.
