A service for George J. Burgardt, 79, a former area resident, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary, Wheat Ridge, Colo. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Burgardt, of Arvada, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at Hospice of St. John in Lakewood, Colo. He was born Sept. 11, 1924, at Holcomb, to John and Barbara Kippes Burgardt.

He grew up in Holcomb, graduating from Holcomb High School in 1942. Mr. Burgardt had been a Colorado resident since 1963.

In February 1946, he married Florence Jacob. She died in November 1983.

He is survived by four sons, Robert Burgardt of Littleton, Colo., Brian Burgardt of Broomfield, Colo., and James and John Burgardt, both of San Francisco; three daughters, Susan Scott of Littleton, Sandy Garret of Superior, Colo., and Michelle Tori of Brighton, Colo.; two brothers, Joe Burgardt of Garden City, and Clarence Burgardt of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Rosie Knoll of Garden City, and Sister Virginia Burgardt of Great Bend; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three (sic, four)brothers, John, Andrew, Jake and Pete Burgardt; and four sisters, Sister Dorothy Burgardt, Anna Dreiling, Mary Baier and Helen Uhrich.
