Mrs. Handgen Orthmann Clausen, the daughter of Fred and Emma Timmerman Orthmann, was born at Story City, Iowa, on October 10, 1880. She came with her parents to O'Brien County as a small child, and it was here she attended the public schools near her home.

She was united in marriage to John C. Clausen on October 2, 1902, at Worthington, Minnesota. They had lived in the Hartley area, except for 17 years at Bigelow, Minnesota. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley.

Mrs. Clausen passed into eternal rest on November 26, 1974, at the Hartley Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1946, as well as a son, Lawrence, five brothers and three sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Clara (Mrs. Glenn Hoobler) of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Alice J. Clausen of Burbank, California, one son Arnold Clausen of Aloha, Oregon, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hannah Clausen, 94, were held Friday, Nov. 29 at the Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. Bernard Sayler officiating. Casket bearers were George A. Balliet, Gary Balliet, Wm. Lux, Dale Lux, Norman Lux and Richard Groen. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery with Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
