Lila was home born on a farm near Lake Lillian, MN. She was the seventh child born of the Koester children. She had 5 brothers and one older sister. Her Father passed away when she was 4 years old. She attended grade school, a country one room school. In her youth, her Mother suggested she take piano lessons. No one in the family had displayed any interest or talent in music. She became a very excellent pianist and organist. If she heard a song she could play it without written music; later on was a church organist for many years. She attended College and became a school teacher. Most of her career was in the Marshall MN schools. After retiring, she remained in Marshall. When her health declined she lived in Assisted Living and later with her Sister in Brooklyn Center. Then Assisted living until passing. She loved Jesus and church was very important in her life. She was especially caring to her Mother.
Lila is survived by her brother, Virgil(Betty) and sister, Lorraine(Gayland) Halter, many Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in passing were Parents Leonard and Anna, Brothers Laurice, Myron, Roland and Harold.
