Bio: Laurice T. Koester, age 85, of Lake Lillian died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Central Minnesota Senior Care in Lake Lillian. Funeral services are Monday 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian with Rev. Art Wiese officiating. Burial is in Tromso Cemetery. Visitation is Monday at the church for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian.
Laurice T. Koester was born June 7, 1923 in Bandon Township, rural Fairfax, MN to Leonard and Anna Koester. In 1928 the family moved to a farm near Lake Lillian. He graduated from Atwater High School in 1941. After the passing of his father in 1940, Laurice farmed for seven years and cared for the surviving family. Then he served two years in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. Following his Army service he worked on farms, hauled gravel, was employed by Central States Construction for 23 years, and worked at the Renville beet plant.
In retirement he was well known for his volunteer work in Lake Lillian. He was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church (now United Lutheran), a Council Member and Head Usher. Laurice died Thursday, December 25, 2008, at Central Minnesota Senior Care in Lake Lillian.
Surviving family members include three brothers, his two sisters, a sister-in-law, nine nieces and nephews, and eleven great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, a brother, Myron Koester, and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Koester, preceded him in death. Blessed Be His Memory.
