John P. Degand, died at his home, 521 East Fairchild, Tuesday afternoon following a heart attack.
He was born May 11, 1863 at Pfeifer, Russia, and came to the United States 57 years ago.
He first settled in Salina, but moved to Topeka after two years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine Degand, of the home; one daughter, Katherine Navarre, Topeka; seven sons, Casper and Peter, both of Chicago, Adam W., George, John, Jake and Ike, all of Topeka; 24 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
