Lawrence was born & passed away in the rural Shipley area. He was the son of George Perlroy & Isabel Georgina (Johnson) Jordan. He married Margaret Cook April 24, 1938 and they had 2 daughters; Joyce & Linda.
OBITUARY:
Lawrence Kenneth Jordan, 89, died at his home from cancer, Thursday, May 29, 2008.
Lawrence was born December 16, 1918, at rural Ames, the son of George Perlroy and Isabel Georgina (Johnson) Jordan. He grew up in the Shipley area and graduated fro Shipley High School in 1937. Lawrence worked at Logston Dairy in Ames following graduation. He was united in marriage to Margaret Cook on April 24, 1938 in Princeton, Missouri. Margaret preceded Lawrence in death February 9, 2006. He farmed in the Shipley area for most of his life except for two years at rural Earlham. He also did tree trimming and removal and owned a sawmill. In the late 1950's he drew plans on a scrap of paper for a house. He built the home with the help of his brothers and brother-in-law with lumber sawed on his own sawmill.
Lawrence was a friend to everyone, always had a smile or a lugh. His life was full of fun. He and Margaret spent winters in Apache Junction, Az for many of their later years.
Lawrence was a member of the Nevada 1st United Methodist Church and belonged to the Wally Byam Caravan Club.
Survivors include two daughters: Joyce (Jerry) Peterson of Ames, Ia. and Linde (Larry) Hansen of Dayton, Ia; four grandchildren; Jarrett (Melanie) Peterson, Jennifer (Brian) Kreutner; Laura Marcott, Letitia (Jason) Kenemer; five great granddaughters; Kira Pearl Marcott, Sarah Michaela Kreutner, Kjistine Alicia Peterson, Rachel Margaret Peterson and Sophia Jordan Kreutner; two great-grandsons, Jonathon Theophil Kreutner and Harvey Wyatt Kenemer; two sisters; Anita (Robert) Bell and Lois (Allen) Christenson; a sister-in-law; Alma(LeRoy) Rotschafer of Des Moines, Ia.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and four brothers: Roy, Dick, Grant and Harvey.
