Impressive funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Newton Chandler, aged 42 years, were held at Chace Chapel, Sunday, May 27, 1956 at 4:00pm with the Rev. Carl R. McGinnis, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Appropriate music by a choir and Mrs. G. A. Heartner of Karnes City, organist, added to the effectiveness.

Audrey Earline Newton was born in Victoria, Texas, on October 10, 1913, the daughter of J. M. Newton and the late Mrs. Edna E. Newton. She had been a Christian and a member of the Methodist Church from early youth, and was married to Claude Lee Chandler on April 25, 1931. They had lived in Odessa where both did war work after leaving Kennedy. They also resided in Midland and San Antonio before making their home in Rankin, Texas.

Mrs. Chandler was very active in church, school and civic circles, especially with children and youth. She died at her home in Rankin Friday afternoon, May 25, 1956, having been in failing health for about two years.

Previous funeral rites were held in the First Methodist Church in Rankin Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Shannon, pastor of the First Baptis Church in charge of the services.

Surviving are her husband Claude Chandler of Rankin, her father, J.M. Newton of Bay City; one daughter, Mrs. Claudyne Yocham of Rankin; one son, Clifford Chandler with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif.; one grandchild; four sisters, Mesdames L.E. Harvill of Odessa, H.M. Miller of Dallas, W.E. Milstead and W.W. Frisbie of Bay City; five brothers, Lloyd and Hollis Newton of Victoria, Harvey of Bay City, M.M. "Tony" Newton of Albert, Canada, and Ottis Newton of Alice.
