PEGGY EVA NEWTON MAYHEW
Funeral services for Peggy N. Mayhew, 83, of Bay City will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Bay City with the Rev. W. D. Baker officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.
Mrs. Mayhew was born Dec. 15, 1904, in Big Springs, Texas, to Jessie Marshall and Edna E. Tabb Newton and died 10:45 pm Oct. 8, 1988, at Matagorda General Hospital, in Bay City.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Association of Retired Person, Pink Ladies and First Baptist Church of Bay City.
Survivors include two sisters, Ethel Milstead and Esther Miller both of Bay City; two brothers, Harvey "Smokey" C. Newton of Nacogdoches and Otis Newton of Alice; a granddaughter, Myra Galle and husband, Rusty Shook of Bay City; great grandchildren, Todd Galle, Bart Galle, and Sean Galle, all of Bay City; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Ray Reece, Gene Smith, James Cheatham, Jack Brown, Earl Icenogle and Albert Barber.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Mayhew in 1979; a son, Norman H. Galle Sr. in 1974; and a grandson, Norman H. Galle, Jr. in 1983.
