Willie Maurice Gilbertson, age 20, died at home on Saturday, December 21, 1918. He was born to Gustave and Addie (Benson) Gilbertson in Spring Grove, Minn. Willie died from the 1918 Influenza epidemic which lead into double pneumonia. The funeral, according to the state regulations was held on Sunday, December 22, 1918 at home and at the gravesite and was conducted by Rev. A.O. Johnson. Surviving are his parents, six brothers; Timan, Clarence, Peter, Gerhard, Henry, Oscar, one sister; Anna. Willie was buried at Trinity Cemerty in Spring Grove. Willie was born on the farm, where he breathed his last breath and grew to manhood there. Disease plays no favorites and sometimes even the youngest and strongest must bow to it. He was of a pleasant and kindly disposition and was a great favorite among his associates of whom he had many and by whom he will be sorely missed.
